Old Business:

An overview of the SAC meetings from the first half of the 07-08 school year was provided for participants. Mary Beth Slane asked team reps to verify that all members of their grade level team have a SAC icon on their desktop. This will ensure that all staff members have access to previous and current SAC minutes. Any teachers who do not have the SAC icon on their desktop should send notification to Wayne Eichen to have the icon added.

Treasury Update:

The SAC budget currently stands at $5, 367.21 out of the consumables budget. This amount reflects the recent expenditures to assist grade levels with field trips.

New Business:

February is volunteer appreciation month.  The Annual PALS Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon will be held on Thursday, February 14 at 12:00 in the Media Center. Ms. Welsh will lead the chorus in a special presentation. Ms. Nugent’s art classes have created placements for the event. Invitations have been sent out to all active volunteers and business partners.  Arrangements are being made so that teachers who participate in SAC will be able to come up for their lunch.

Melissa Thompson was asked to review the goals for SAC in preparation for the upcoming TMT meeting. Mary Beth Slane read the goals that were included in the approved Operational Guidelines. Mary Beth recommended that we accept and submit these goals. Mrs. Kennelly seconded it.  The committee approved the recommendation unanimously.

Funds have been requested to assist with a safety initiative. Recently, Mr. Lostorto completed a survey of how many of Tuttle’s students wear a seatbelt. It was concluded that only 37% wear their seatbelts. Mrs. Kahler has prepared a flyer with information about seatbelt safety to parents.  There will also be a seatbelt awareness poster contest. Mrs. Kahler has also asked for $75 to purchase kids lunches from Chick-fil-A for the winning student’s class. Other prizes will be given for second and third place.  Marcy Kennelly proposed we fund this initiative.  Adele Doyle seconded the motion.  The SAC committee voted unanimously to fund this initiative.

Chorus will be singing at the upcoming Arts Day event. Chorus also will perform at the Sarasota Jewish Choral Event. Both events promise to be outstanding performances.

Michele Skinner joined our ESE department. She is a recent graduate from USF.

Ms.Nugent has resigned from her position as art instructor at Tuttle. She has taken a position at Girls Inc as Communications and Event Coordinator.

No new team concerns/requests at this time.

Principal’s Update

Mrs. Kahler gave an update on the Courtyard Renovation Project.  A blueprint of the proposal was made available for SAC members to view.  The proposal includes a fund raising campaign that would include selling 4x8 and 8x8 bricks. The goal is to have completed the Courtyard Renovation by August 2008.

A motion was made to adjourn at 8:02 by Mary Beth Slane. Courtni Darpino seconded the motion. The next SAC meeting is February 13th.
