There was no information available for the Carnival update. It is a PTO function.
Dr. LeMaster gave an update regarding AR goals. Information has been returned to him by some of the teachers/teams as to how their AR goals are established. While we have great procedures for helping to encourage our students to read, there is still room for improvement. He will work with the staff to investigate and possibly implement some proven strategies from other schools to help improve and extend our students’ interest in reading, as well as seeking prizes and awards from businesses for students meeting goals.
The school has received a quote of $1,200 from the Butterfly
Lady to renovate, clean up and replant the
Math/Reading/Vocabulary Problem of the Day and the Web page agenda items will be discussed at the next meeting.
Treasury update: Mrs. Ralich reported there is approximately $3500 available. The field trip funds are already subtracted.
Mr. Buchanan asked Mrs. Ralich to present a proposal for the payment of teacher subs for two days for the 4th grade team to work intensively with small groups of students to help improve writing skills before the Florida Writes! Test. The cost would be approximately $1,400.00. Mrs. Schaefer made a motion to pay for two days of subs for the 4th grade team to work with the students on writing. Mrs. Rodriguez seconded the motion, and the motion was carried unanimously.
Patty Adams reported the Parent Involvement Committee had been working on the following:
They had requested music and/or flags from the different countries representing
our school’s population. The flags would be hung in the cafeteria. They have received 5 flags so far.
A survey was sent home with all students. Out of the 870 surveys, approximately 230 have been returned. Ms. Adams read some of the results of the survey. A copy of the completed survey will be given to the SAC at the next meeting.
