Mr. Buchanan and Mrs. Delgado spoke about ESOL parent night, and its success. New headphones brought by the ESOL office were used by parents enabling the information to be simultaneously translated as the speakers were talking. The headphones were well received by the parents, and feedback was great. The clarity was good. The cost of the headphones is around $80. It was felt it might be a good idea for Tuttle to purchase some of these headphones to keep at Tuttle and be used for all occasions.
The 21st Century after-school tutoring program is up and running. The homework assistance program has also started in the mornings. Students seem to be enjoying the after-school program and feel it is really helpful.
Mrs. Davenport is the new remedial math teacher. The classroom teachers and Mr. Buchanan put together her class list. With the hiring of the remedial math teacher, Mr. Buchanan hopes Tuttle students will improve their math scores, and the school will meet the NCLB criteria. We want our students to develop confidence in their math and reading.
November 30, 2004 is FCAT night. To help with attendance, it was suggested that coupons for ice cream be offered to all students who attend with their parents. Mrs. Schaefer made a motion to pay for FCAT ice cream coupons. Mrs. Ridings seconded, and the motion passed.
PTO will be sponsoring a school dance on December 10, 2004. It will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and parents must accompany their student. The charge will be $2.00 per person.
SAC meetings will be January 18, February 15th, March 15th and April 19th. A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 3:45 p.m. by Kelly O’Brien. Mrs. Schaefer seconded, and the meeting was adjourned.
