Tuttle Elementary School

SAC Minutes

January 20,2004

The January meeting was held on January 20, 2004 at 3:00 in the administration conference room.

The chairperson Kelly O’Brien called the meeting to order, and turned the meeting over to Principal Alex Bennett. Mr. Bennett asked the committee about the resent climate surveys, and the response to them. He stated that he is interested in developing a brief survey of our own to gather specific areas of improvement for our campus. The committee brainstormed possible questions for that survey.

We are looking for feedback in the areas of communication, customer service and student achievement (academically and behaviorally). These will be sent home to all parents (in Spanish as well) and staff. Those returned to the office will received a treats J

Mr. Bennett reported that he has met with PTO president Janice Hick about the Tuttle Turtle Trot. The date has been moved to March 26th – the day before spring break. This event will involved laps around a “track” in the back field – more information soon.

Our school carnival is scheduled for May 7th. PTO has decided to not hire an outside vendor this year for rides/games or food. Teachers will be asked to participate in booths and activities. Mr. Bennett also would like to invite a band – using our stage.

Budget update – Mr. Bennett has met with Michele and Judy concerning past practices on budget planning here. Our population is now almost 900 students. We have been told this means that ESE pre-school will be moved to Alta Vista next year. We can not take on any additional portables. Tuttle’s budget needs to be presented in April. Mr. Bennett will present more budget information to the SAC committee next month.

The next meetings are scheduled for Feb. 17th and March 23rd at 3:00

Meeting adjourned by Kelly O’Brien and seconded by Violet Blyden
