Jaime Kisner called meeting to order @ 3:45pm

Call to Order

o Jaime Kisner motioned to approve prior meeting minutes.

(due to move of 5^th Grade To WMS)

o Only five lunch blocks will be needed.

Dress Code Committee - Dianne Platt

• Full color flyer to be distributed w/ Principals Points and Report Card
• Specifically highlighted:
• Jeans allowed only on Spirit Day
• Bottoms must be to mid-thigh with an inseam of 6 inches or more
• Socks-color options – gold, white khaki, navy blue & black
• “Last Day of Week”
• Picture Days rules
• Field trip requirements
• Trade – In rule
• Sports Fanatic new Polo price with new address

Literacy Committee - Kathleen McCoy & Lori Rodriguez

• Book Fair ‘Reading Road Trip’ in progress, with Frank Remikiewicz signing tonight.
• All students received a free book this week – thanks to funds from staff-voted A+ money! One student commented, “This is the best day of my life.”!!
• Teacher resource room-materials are being ordered and processed.
• $2000 toward new listening centers for classes
• One more meeting to wrap up year
• New Reading Series Delivered: Harcourt Storytown

• Summer teacher training – 2 institutes (develop flipcharts, curriculum alignment, etc.)
• Online access to teacher training, materials and resources coming at a later date

• Reading Counts – Continual Growth! From 1^st Qtr at 42 students, 2^nd Qtr at 83, 3^rd Qtr @ 152. Now @ 4^th Qtr well over 200!

Math Committee – Sandee Coward

• All Teachers received Mountain Math as requested
• A+ $$$ allowed for literature series for each classroom
• Created Math Incentive Program for Math Facts “ Math is the Key to Success”

Scholarship Committee - Joyce Kisner

• Two $500 scholarships to 2 North Port High Seniors –sponsored by

Gulf Coast Community Foundation

• Money makers: Drawing in October, Silent Auction in Spring.
• Fund has over $30,000, but has experienced investment losses
• Goal is to raise $500-1000 per year
• North Port committee selects the high school recipients. Foundations send money directly to college the student is attending.

Renaissance Committee –Allison Stewart & Gayle Eckberg

• This Year TBES had four fantastic Renaissance celebrations.
• The “Eat the Ants” fundraiser brought in funds for activities and excitement over the whole campus
• CARNIVAL!! Next Friday-Many volunteers for dunking! Thank you.
• Results: 80-90% kids are making Renaissance!! What it’s all about!
• Perfect Attendance
• Straight A’s
• Gold coins
• The Renaissance store worked beautifully with the Renaissance bucks handed out every month
• Hat Day/Spirit Day
• Next Year’s Theme = Renaissance Rocks: Decades of Music!

Looking for lots of ideas to be considered and implemented this Summer.

SOS Committee – Angela Short

• Bully Prevention top agenda item

Review- starts initially in classroom. Vicki Stonestreet to provide materials to assist all.

1. Teachers will be offered videos

2. Bully prevention program – featuring 10 min. vides

3. Proposed protocol for reporting bullying, 3 step process, defined for teachers

• Reviewing Buses and Parent Pick-Up

• Running smoothly and constantly monitored
• Ride with Pride successful
• Fewer kids next year should alleviate many problems

• Reviewing Parent Pick Up

§ Plan to revamp next year, smaller enrollment will make difference

• ID’s

1. Very favorable in pilot classrooms

2. Very few problems encountered (i.e. Left them home, etc.)

Conference Participation Parameters - Sub Committee – Jaime Kisner

• Title 2 Grant $ to provide a pot of $ for teachers to further their own development and that can be brought back to benefit TBES. Recipients of grant monies should bring what they have learned back to the TBES community in a way that can benefit all.
• Money will be divided into 2 parts, Fall and Spring semester. Amounts will be capped for equitable use among all teachers. Costs can also be applied to pay for substitutes.
