Literacy Committee - Kathleen McCoy &
Lori Rodriguez
- Book Fair
‘Reading Road Trip’ in progress, with Frank Remikiewicz
signing tonight.
- All students
received a free book this week – thanks to funds from staff-voted A+
money! One student commented, “This is the best day of my life.”!!
- Teacher resource
room-materials are being ordered and processed.
- $2000 toward new
listening centers for classes

Series Delivered: Harcourt Storytown
- Summer teacher training – 2 institutes (develop
flipcharts, curriculum alignment, etc.)
- Online access to teacher training,
materials and resources coming at a later date
- Reading Counts – Continual Growth! From 1st Qtr at 42 students,
2nd Qtr at 83, 3rd Qtr @ 152. Now @ 4th
Qtr well over 200!
Math Committee – Sandee Coward
- All Teachers received Mountain Math as
requested
- A+ $$$ allowed for literature series for each classroom
- Created Math Incentive Program for Math
Facts “ Math is the Key to Success”
Scholarship Committee - Joyce Kisner
- Two $500 scholarships to 2 North Port High
Seniors –sponsored by
Gulf Coast Community Foundation
- Money makers: Drawing in October, Silent
Auction in Spring.
- Fund has over $30,000, but has experienced
investment losses
- Goal is to raise $500-1000 per year
- North Port committee selects the high school
recipients. Foundations send money directly to college the student is
attending.
Renaissance
Committee –Allison Stewart & Gayle Eckberg
- This Year TBES had
four fantastic Renaissance celebrations.
- The “Eat the
Ants” fundraiser brought in funds for activities and excitement over the
whole campus
- CARNIVAL!!
Next Friday-Many volunteers for dunking! Thank you.
- Results: 80-90% kids are making Renaissance!!

Conference Participation Parameters - Sub
Committee – Jaime Kisner
- Title 2 Grant $ to provide a pot of $ for teachers to further
their own development and that can be brought back to benefit TBES.
Recipients of grant monies should bring what they have learned back to the
TBES community in a way that can benefit all.
- Money will be divided into 2 parts, Fall
and Spring semester. Amounts will
be capped for equitable use among all teachers. Costs can also be applied to pay for
substitutes.
