The meeting was called to order at 3:45 p.m. by Missy Cleary, Chairperson.

 

Review of September 20, 2007 Minutes

ü    Motion was made to accept the minutes as published.   Seconded, and approved.     

 

State Equity Laws

ü    The “Policy Against Discrimination for Students” booklet was distributed to all students on September 26, 2007.

ü    The forms for Due Process Procedures and Student Complaint Procedures are available in the school office.

 

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – October 23, 2007

ü    The schedule of events for our Ribbon cutting Ceremony was reviewed and updates will be sent to Gary Leatherman, District Public Relations Coordinator.

ü    Refreshments are being provided by Morton’s Gourmet Market.

 

Math Mania

ü    Sarasota students in grades 3-5 are invited to take part in real-time battles of speed and skill using VmathLive. 

ü    Math Mania is scheduled for October 22nd through October 24th

ü    Students can log on to internet website and compete anytime and anywhere.

ü    Prizes will be awarded to the top student and school participants.

ü    The “Quick Reference for Parents” was reviewed which gives an overview of the program.

 

Florida School Recognition Program

ü    Southside received an “A” rating from the state.

ü    Motion was made to award 100% of the Recognition Funds to staff as a bonus with a full share going to full-time employees and one-half share to part-time employees for the 2006-2007 school year.

ü    This motion was seconded, and approved by a majority vote.

 

New Fence for Playground

ü    A fence will be installed to enclose our new playground on the west side of campus.

 

2007-2008 School Improvement Plan (draft copy)

ü    The “draft copy” of our SIP was forwarded to the district office on September 24, 2007 for approval.

ü    The School Improvement Plan review was tabled until the next SAC meeting.. 

 

The next SAC meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 3:45 p.m. in the Conference Room.

 

Missy Cleary, Chairperson, adjourned the meeting at  4:45 p.m.
