The meeting was called to order at 3:35 p.m. by John Gammaro, Co-Chairperson.

 

Review of March 20, 2007 Minutes

ü Motion was made to accept the minutes as published.   Seconded, and approved.     

 

Presentation of PROPOSED 2007-2008 Budget-Sharon Marks

ü Review of “Individual School Executive Budget Summary” Sheet showing Centrally Allocated Assigned Positions.

ü Waiver Request was submitted to Dr. Nelson for: one additional core teacher (WITHDRAWN).

ü Guidance Counselor (Referendum) .5 + Science Support (Referendum) = 1 Science TEACHER. 

ü Dance – Contracted Services.

ü Waiver Request was submitted to Dr. Nelson for: ESOL Aide .5 + ESE Aide .5 = 1 ESOL Liaison/Reading TEACHER.

ü ESE Support = 1.5 self-contained units, 2 resource teachers, and 2 ESE Aides.

ü ESE Special Support – Contract Services for ESE Teacher, Ashby Davidson .

ü Critical to keep Science TEACHER & Reading TEACHER positions at Southside.

ü Our Science & PE programs will have more accountability in 07/08 (i.e. lesson plans, lab grades, etc.).

ü We are trying to avoid “combination” classes.

ü ESOL Liaison Position covers student placement & testing, classroom modifications, teacher support, required paperwork.

ü Motion was made to schedule an additional SAC meeting when the Budget has been finalized at the district office.  Seconded and approved.

 

Comparison of FCAT Writing Scores from 2006 to 2007

ü We tested 136 fourth graders this year vs. 93 in 2006.

ü The Mean Scaled Score of Writing + (multiplechoice) increased from 341 to 348.

ü Our combined writing score increased from 4.2 to 4.3.

ü 96 percent of Southside students met the state target.

ü We are third in the district after Pine View and Lakeview for percent of students meeting the state target in writing.

 

 

 

Construction Update

ü According to Construction Services, we are on schedule to occupy the 1926 building by August 1, 2007.

 

We will call all SAC members with the date and time of the next meeting after receipt of our Budget from the district office. 

 

John Gammaro adjourned the meeting at 4:15 p.m.
