The
meeting was called to order at 3:35 p.m. by Jeanne Medawar,
Chairperson.
ü Motion was made to accept
the minutes as published. Seconded, and
approved.
ü Motion: “SAC &
School Recognition A+ funds be allotted to Temporary Duty
coverage and other areas of need during construction as determined by Principal
and Bookkeeper. A report of spending
will be presented to SAC monthly.”
ü In conjunction with the
building of our new facility, the school board has allotted us $100,000 in
capital funds to purchase replacement computers, thus alleviating our need for
technology funding at this time.
ü February 2007 - All teachers
are scheduled to have an ACTIVboard installed in their
classroom. Training has been scheduled
for February 16th and 20th.
ü Motion was made to adjust SAC budget as requested and was then brought
to a vote by Jeanne Medawar. Seconded
and unanimously approved.
ü The move into our new
building went smoothly in December.
ü Construction Services paid
the teachers for one day of packing and one day of unpacking (2 days extra
pay).
ü Office and support staff
moved into temporary areas so that Willis Smith Construction has access to the entire
1926 building for complete renovation.
Demolition has begun on rooms in this building.
ü PTA has approved the allocation
of funds to purchase new furniture for Kindergarten and Grade 2 students upon
completion of renovation project.
ü Suggestion: Purchase larger desks and chairs for grade 4
& 5 students and give K & 2 students the desks from the new
building. Sharon Marks will check with
Gerry Colangelo, Purchasing Dept., on Thursday, January 18th. She will also get feedback from students concerning
desk and chair sizes.
ü Sarasota Herald Tribune sent
a photographer to take pictures of the new building. An article about Southside will be printed.

ü The focus is on our Below
Basic students. Remediation for these
students is on-going. Help is being
provided for ESE & ESOL students.
ü Principal and Data Coach are
meeting with Grade Level Teams to review student data and individualize
instruction.
ü 6 interns from USF have been
assigned to our school for the second semester.
They will conduct ESOL case studies on our students.
ü Principal to coordinate High
School Reading Tutors Program with Data Coach and Reading
Instructor.
The next SAC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 13,
2007 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the
