Review of November 28, 2006 Minutes

ü Motion was made to accept the minutes as published.  Seconded, and approved.

SAC Budget Adjustment Discussion:

ü Motion:  “SAC & School Recognition A+ funds be allotted to Temporary Duty coverage and other areas of need during construction as determined by Principal and Bookkeeper.  A report of spending will be presented to SAC monthly.”

ü In conjunction with the building of our new facility, the school board has allotted us $100,000 in capital funds to purchase replacement computers, thus alleviating our need for technology funding at this time.

ü February 2007 - All teachers are scheduled to have an ACTIVboard installed in their classroom.  Training has been scheduled for February 16th and 20th.

ü Motion was made to adjust SAC budget as requested and was then brought to a vote by Jeanne Medawar.  Seconded and unanimously approved.

Facilities Update:

ü The move into our new building went smoothly in December.

ü Construction Services paid the teachers for one day of packing and one day of unpacking (2 days extra pay).

ü Office and support staff moved into temporary areas so that Willis Smith Construction has access to the entire 1926 building for complete renovation.  Demolition has begun on rooms in this building.

ü PTA has approved the allocation of funds to purchase new furniture for Kindergarten and Grade 2 students upon completion of renovation project.

ü Suggestion:  Purchase larger desks and chairs for grade 4 & 5 students and give K & 2 students the desks from the new building.  Sharon Marks will check with Gerry Colangelo, Purchasing Dept., on Thursday, January 18th.   She will also get feedback from students concerning desk and chair sizes.

ü Sarasota Herald Tribune sent a photographer to take pictures of the new building.  An article about Southside will be printed.
