The
meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. by John Gammaro,
Co-Chairperson.
ü
Motion was made to accept the minutes as published. Seconded, and approved.
ü 96% of our current 4th
graders and 83% of our current 5th graders scored “Above Level 3” on
the Spring 2006 FCAT
ü 57% of current 4th
graders and 65% of current 5th graders scored “70% or Above” on the
Fall 2006 Sarasota County Planning Tool (SCPT)
ü Kagan Cooperative Learning
Strategies are being taught as part of our Staff Professional Development
ü Mrs. Brigham explained the
importance of cooperative learning strategies not only for learning, but to
build community
ü “Reflections” questions will
be used during grade level meetings:
o
What are the common trends across our grade level based on the data?
o
What are the implications of the changes for my teaching and
learning?
o
What professional development is needed based on the data?
o
How might we share this data with others?
ü SCPT (District Testing) –
November 27th-January 26th

Review
of New 2007 Criteria for School Grade:
ü
Three ways to make gains:
o Improve FCAT levels
o Maintain 3, 4, or 5
o Improve more than one year
within Level 1 or 2, but not retained
ü
School grade is based on three things:
o Total Points
o Adequate Progress
o Percent of Students Tested
“Moving
Day at Southside”:
ü
We are entering the Final Phase of construction
ü
This will involve refurbishing the 1926 building with painting, new
carpet, new air system, new flooring, etc.
ü
We are closing office and classroom space in the building for the
remainder of this school year.
ü
Kindergarten, Music, Art and Second grade will be in the Osprey
Portables
ü
First, Third, Fourth & Fifth grades will be located in the new
building
ü
Office personnel and specialists will be located throughout the campus
ü
Construction should be completed around the start of the 2007-2008
school year
The next SAC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2007 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Main Office.
