Presentation by Amanda Daughtry, Data Coach

Multiple assessments have been used district-wide this year to track student progress:

ü     SRI – Scholastic Reading Inventory for Grades 2-5

Ø     Lexile gives a comprehension prediction.   The lexile is matched to test.  Go to  lexile.com or scholastic.com (e book) to get book lists.

Ø     Assesses interpretive comprehension – independent reading

Ø     75% comprehension prediction keeps students engaged and challenged.

ü     SCPTSarasota County Planning Tool (District Test)

Ø     Data used for Teacher Collaborative Planning

Ø     Grade level objectives and benchmarks are given as a pretest in reading (grs. 2-5), math (gr. 3-5), and Science (gr. 5).

ü     PAR – Predictive Assessment of Reading

Ø     Tests phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and rapid letter naming.

Ø     Students in grades 1-3 were tested on August 15, 2006.  Results were received on September 26, 2006.

ü     Fluency – Grades 1-5

Ø     One minute timing on a grade level passage.

Ø     Benchmark scores to measure progress.

ü     ECHOS

Ø     All kindergarten students are assessed with DIBELS and a 12 area observation sheet.

ü     DAR

Ø     Progress monitoring plan students

ü     CELLA

Ø     State test for ESOL students.

ü     Students will re-test in January 2007 and April 2007.

ü     These assessments are beneficial to teachers as they show student growth.

ü     SRI Testing will be added to the next PTA General Meeting Agenda.  Amanda Daughtry will present information to parents about student results and how they can help their child at home.

2006-2007 School Grade Changes

ü     Writing remains at 3.5 – no increase to 4.0.

ü     Science is added as a component.

ü     Math includes lowest 25 percent.

ü     800 point scale up from 600 point scale.

Facilities Update

ü     We are on schedule to move into the new building in December 2006.

ü     We will check with Willis Smith Construction for permission to schedule a tour of the building for SAC members during our October Meeting.

The next SAC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Main Office.   We will discuss strategies and activities that support our School Improvement Plan (i.e. Morning Tutorial Sessions being offered to 13 students in Reading and Math in grades 2, 3, & 4)

Jeanne Medawar adjourned the meeting at 4:15 p.m.
