The meeting was called to

SRI –
Scholastic Reading Inventory for Grades 2-5
Ø
Lexile gives a
comprehension prediction. The lexile is matched to test. Go to lexile.com
or scholastic.com (e book) to get book lists.
Ø
Assesses
interpretive comprehension – independent reading
Ø
75% comprehension
prediction keeps students engaged and challenged.

Teacher Collaborative Planning

Grade level
objectives and benchmarks are given as a pretest in reading (grs. 2-5), math
(gr. 3-5), and Science (gr. 5).

Predictive Assessment of

Tests phonemic
awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and rapid letter naming.
Ø
Students in
grades 1-3 were tested on August 15, 2006.
Results were received on September 26, 2006.

All kindergarten
students are assessed with DIBELS and a 12 area observation sheet.

These assessments
are beneficial to teachers as they show student growth.

SRI Testing
will be added to the next PTA General Meeting Agenda. Amanda Daughtry will present information to
parents about student results and how they can help their child at home.
2006-2007 School Grade Changes
ü Writing remains at 3.5 – no increase to 4.0.
ü Science is added as a component.
ü Math includes lowest 25 percent.
ü 800 point scale up from 600 point scale.
Facilities Update
ü We are on schedule to move into the new
building in December 2006.
ü We will check with Willis Smith Construction
for permission to schedule a tour of the building for SAC members during our
October Meeting.
The next SAC meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from
3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Main Office. We will discuss strategies and activities that
support our School Improvement Plan (i.e. Morning Tutorial Sessions being
offered to 13 students in
