School Advisory Council
2007-2008

Meeting was called to order
by Gina Damaia
Minutes of the January , 2008, meeting were presented with motion of
approval by Karen Rose, with Judi Robson seconding.
Student agenda books are soon to be updated
and Karen Rose asked members to review sections and to share with her
suggestions for additions, changes, and deletions. General discussion included areas that
centered on dress—shoes, back-packs, attendance procedures, use of the media
center.
Marti Watson reported that
FCAT bootcamp was currently in session with about 60
attendees. It was reported that Jason Sharock was implementing a similar affair (Science bootcamp) for 8th grade students who will be
taking the Science FCAT.
Several staff were recognized for their “good works” day-in and day-out.
Marjorie Smith and her
tireless attention to the active-boards and out staff, Daniel Lunt for showing
that Next Generation learning is also at the middle schools were a few of the
mentioned.
There was some discussion
regarding the 8th graders and their exploration of careers as they
get ready to enroll in high school academies.
Motion to adjourn was made by
Danyne Robins and meeting adjourned.
