Council—
Greg
Leight called the meeting to order.
Minutes
of
Kudos
was given to The Committee of Seven members who once again worked to distribute
the A+ dollars. Committee members were recognized.
Casino
Night was declared a success once again.
All parts of the night were thought to have been done admirably. A full report of the results will be
requested for presentation at our next scheduled meeting
SMS
School Improvement Plan was accepted without changes by the Sarasota County
School Board. Copies of the approved
plan were distributed to attending SAC members.
State
Equity Law booklets were distributed to members. There is a requirement that
staff, students, and parents be informed of their rights. Staff has been trained and booklets have been
distributed to students (with the intent that the booklets have been taken
home.)
PLC
Tuesday and PLC Thursday updates were presented.
There
was a brief discussion about tutoring & mentoring and how parent volunteers
could help SMS.
Turkey
Grams are currently being sold with the proceeds to benefit the All Faiths Food
Band and the Mayor’s program to “Feed the Hungry.”
Some
SAC terms are ending as we get ready to enter our “SAC year” which runs from
January to January. The school
newsletter will contain a nomination form for representatives from the PTSO.
