II.         Director’s Report

·         The enrollment summary was reviewed.

·         Technical High School: Mellissa, Jack McDonald, and others visited McFatter on 11/6/06 and the last official statement regarding the new technical high school was an opening of August 2007.  The group discussed a letter to the School Board regarding the schedule.

·         Bruce reviewed 2006-07 priorities, which included the following items.

o   Define, develop, refine and implement a continuous improvement plan.

o   Fully implement PLC’s at SCTI.

o   Continue the move toward full implementation of the coaching model.

o   Define, refine and implement a systematic process for routine program review.

o   Increase the use of McREL, CRISS, CRISS+ and Kagan instruction strategies in the classroom.

o   Development of Gold Seal Lesson Plans.

o   TABE acceleration at both the high school and adult levels.

o   Implement SMART campaign.

·         Actual cost of the website is $69,000-$70,000.  It will be 9 months until it is fully implemented and it should be visible by June or July.

·         SCTI is featured on “On Campus” on Channel 20 with Karen Noble, an EMT student, an Accounting student Lisa Barshinger.  It will be shown three times per day for ½ hour.  Karen Noble is doing a cooking show and a spot in the future will be hosted by Automotive.

IIl.        New Business

·         Common course numbering and the change from clock hours to credit hours are in process, with a few programs every quarter. A writing group meets and sends their results to all centers.  Law Enforcement, EMT, Auto Service Tech, Corrections, Paramedic, and Firefighter are well under way.

IV.        SDMT

·         Meeting was held November 7

·         Ten teachers submitted individual plans for their 30 hours of professional development.

·         Teacher of the Year is Gail Fowler of Child Care

·         Holiday party will be December 14 from 2:30 to 4:00 pm, with Culinary Dept roasting a pig and other activities and music

·         Connect with SCTI will be held November 14 for guidance counselors for other schools

·         High School Open House is November 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm

V.                  Discussion

·         The Vice Chair is disappointed that the CTE Director is not in attendance at SCTI SAC meetings and has not offered an explanation.

·         Bruce was asked by the Chair to explain the district agenda regarding SCTI.  Bruce explained the new Technical Center, reconstruction and renovation into a new facility, will be done in phases.

·         The technical high school will operate under the SCTI umbrella as a cost center.  The high school will have 600 students, phased in at 150 per year in 4 years.

·         There is no decision yet on shared time students—unlikely that students will be shared as they are now.

·         Program review will be completed at SCTI; Mellissa will be involved in the process.

·         Bruce has weekly meetings with Mellissa.

·         Members of SAC who were on the reinvent group report that no decisions were made.

·         It was suggested that the SAC needs to be more involved in planning decisions, and less self-restricted to approval type functions.

·         Members reviewed the statutory requirements for a SAC.

·         The group reached consensus that a meeting of a few members with Mellissa to discuss issues and solutions is a first step and should be done as soon as possible.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 pm by a motion by Louis, seconded by Regina.  It passed unanimously. The next meeting is December 11, 2006.
