SCHOLARSHIP RESOURCE ROOM – Debbie Mason, R.H.S.
Scholarship/College Advisor
q
Ms.
Mason distributed information regarding the Scholarship Resource Room. Her goal is to meet with students so that she
can share with them financial aid, scholarships and college planning
information. Students will fill out a Student Info Sheet (Name, Grade, GPA,
SAT/ACT Score, Colleges Interested In, Majors/Careers interested In, Financial
Need, etc.) These sheets will help determine where students are at in their
whole process and what kind of things they will need. This information will match students with
scholarships and other types of resources that are out there available to
them.
q
Ms.
Mason distributed a copy of her November Monthly Report that showed her
appointments, meetings and assemblies she had attended and scholarship
nomination programs she had coordinated.
She shared how her assistance at Renaissance helped her get to know the
students and also the parents who had volunteered at this activity.
q
Scholarship
Scene is mailed to all the seniors. It shares what new scholarships are
available.
q
SPAM
(Scholarship Planning And More)
- “Got SPAM?” hats
and t-shirts will be available to students to help spread the word around.
OCTOBER FCAT RESULTS / FCAT PREP
COMPREHENSIVE PLANS
– Evie Eddins,
q
Ms.
Eddins distributed a 2005 FCAT Comprehensive Preparation Plan showing a
timeline of what will be accomplished.
She also distributed a FCAT 2005 Preparation Materials Inventory showing
all the materials that are available to help students along with other ideas to
help them. Each student was given a
packet with a registration form, a letter explaining the program, and their
individual score history. Scores are from TRAKKER and show every FCAT score for
tests taken. She also feels that R.H.S.
needs an FCAT Prep Class.
q
October
FCAT Scores have come back. Two
different letters were mailed home to students.
One letter congratulated students upon meeting their requirements for
Math and
q 30 seniors still need to pass one or both
sections of the FCAT.
q
FCAT
Tuesday: All 9th and 10th
grade teachers will specifically address test taking strategies and FCAT
skills.
2005 – 06 / 2006-07 DISTRICT-WIDE
CALENDAR – Linda
Nook, R.H.S. Principal
q SAC members reviewed the 2005-06 and
2006-07 District-Wide Calendar drafts that are being proposed by the Calendar
Committee for consideration and will go before the school board for
approval.
q SAC members noted several concerns such
as an August 11th student return to school date (high absenteeism),
having two days off before Christmas (traveling during Winter Break and taking
semester exams after the winter break will be challenging to students). Good Friday was another concern and it was
mentioned that since school is not closed for Jewish holidays, if Good Friday
is important to an employee, they could take the day off using a personal day.
SAC members will recommend the following
changes to the Calendar Committee:
