MEETING CALLED TO ORDER

Chuck Evans called the meeting to order at 2:06 p.m.  No quorum

 

SAC Meetings from last meeting will be discussed at the next SAC meeting scheduled for October 14, 2004.

 

Quorum present at 2:20 p.m.

 

 

SCHOOL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

 

(SPDP) FOR School Improvement 2004 – 05

Mrs. Nook presented the school’s improvement plan with the 30 hours of school improvement activities.

 

The proposed objectives of the plan are grouped into the following six areas:

 

1.  Engage instructional staff members in professional development strategies aligned to

     Riverview High School’s reading and math goals.

2.  Develop common departmental core exams aligned with the county standards.

3.  To link common curriculum standards across academies.

4.  Collaborate to share effective instructional strategies.

5.  Apply research based instructional strategies in the classroom.

6.  Monitor Implementation of strategies and impact of the literacy and data coaches.

 

The proposed activities were grouped into the following four areas:

 

1.  Common Assessment Development

2.  Small Learning Communities

3.  Professional Development Activities

4.  Professional Learning Communities (Sharing Effective Learning Strategies)

 

SAC agreed to Goals 1 - 3 and gave administration permission to develop activities.  However, Dimitrije Zdravkovich requested school improvement activities for classified employees.  He agreed to follow up with classified employees and administrators.

SAC reviewed Goals 4-9 and identified professional development strategies to be implemented.

 

Round table discussion scheduled with Dr. Gary Norris on December 7, 2004.  Riverview’s designees are Frederick D. Williams, Abby Gerrity and Chuck Evans.

 

SAC discussed the Princeton Review and RHS practice test and workshops for New SAT schedule for October 23rd and November 13th.

 

Renaissance Learning Center (RLC) will be discussed at the October 14, 2004 SAC meeting.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 3:25 p.m.

 

The next SAC meeting will be held October 14, 2004 @ 2:00 p.m. in room 9-003.
