Chuck Evans called the meeting to order at 2:08 P.M.
The minutes from the March 11, March 25, and April 6, 2004 meetings were all approved as written.
Becky Moyer distributed handouts outlining the dress code for the 2004-05 school year. The school Board has established procedural guidelines for student dress in accordance with policy 5.37. Riverview High School’s policy for student dress and appearance is based on the premise that school is where the students are engaged in the “business of learning”, and should act and dress accordingly. Those students who choose to violate the dress code will be subject to disciplinary action.
Enforcement of the dress code will be a priority for the 2004-05 school year. One person will be appointed to make a determination if a question should arise regarding the appropriateness of the clothing. It was suggested that Bonnie Kuhla be the parent volunteer to assist with this duty.
Students will be chosen at the first Student Council meeting, and Linda will request and appoint the business/community member. It was decided that this year, the nomination letters will be sent home with the final newsletter of the school year and the ballots will be sent home with the report cards.
