Council Meeting
August 20, 2002

Guests: John Gorman
The meeting was called to order at 2:05 p.m. by Linda Nook.
It was a consensus that a chairperson would be appointed at the next meeting on September 10, 2002.
There was discussion regarding individuals who had expressed interest in serving on the committee. It was decided by the members of the committee to appoint two of the four individuals as Community/Business representatives at the next meeting on September 10, 2002.
It was also discussed whether or not Charmaine Pontlitz, PALS Coordinator or a member of the RHS Foundation would be interested in serving on the committee. Mrs. Nook agreed to contact Mrs. Pontlitz and the RHS Foundation to discuss the matter.
Lengthy discussion ensued as to whether or not there should be a student representative from each grade level or just have (2) 11th and (2) 12th grade representatives. Mrs. Wiggins stated that there should a representative from each grade level because the upper – class representatives cannot “speak” on behalf of all students. After further discussion, it was decided that there would be a representative for each grade level.
SAC Meetings will be held on the 1st Tuesday of each month beginning October 1, 2002.
The committee discussed and decided to increase the number of representatives because it is stated in the By-Laws that the “Riverview High School Advisory Council shall consist of no less than 15 and no more than 25 members”. It was decided that the committee shall consist of the following:
7 Teachers
2 Support Staff
1 Principal
4 Students
8 Parents
2 Community/Business
1 PALS Coordinator/Foundation

Total = 25
The meeting was adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
