Agenda Items/Gifted Task Force

Mr. Largo gave an update on the Gifted Task Force. The task force has been meeting all year.   They are coming close to coming up with recommendations to the School Board.  He reviewed their mission of trying to develop a plan to deal with Pine View’s growing population.  The following are several recommendations that were reviewed:

  • To enhance existing gifted programs at other schools by clearly delineating a feeder structure.
  • To have a central coordination of gifted programs.
  • Explore the feasibility of capping enrollment at Pine View.
  • Complete the on-line survey to help gather data to help with the task force.
  • Our facilities will still need improvement.

The task force is planning to meet one more time before the end of the school year.   They then will make a presentation to the School Board sometime in June with their findings.

One other item that was discussed was transportation.  The district is considering a cost-saving method which would decrease the number of bus stops for Pine View students. A group of Pine View parents are meeting with Scott Lempke to brainstorm.
