Minutes of November 13, 2006

Members in Attendance: George Kenney, Jim Clark, Phillie Brooks, Jack Donoghue, Ron Barche, Mike Pelfrey, Rich Carney, Atanas Kobryn, Janice Deller, Jackie Pollard, Barbara Tateosian, John Salafia, Cathy Ziner, Phillip Czyz, Kelsie MacKenzie, Susie Bustillo, Caleigh MacKenzie.

Meeting was called to order at 5:30

Atanas Kobryn made a motion to accept the minutes of October 9, 2006 as presented, 2^nd by Phillip Czyz, minutes were accepted as presented.

Request for funds:

Tony Miller requested $ 600.00 to be used for materials and supplies for the media and Arts Academy. They would be used by students for projects representing the Academy. Atanas Kobryn made a motion to fund, 2^nd by Jim Clark, motion passed to fund.

Denis Silkebakken requested money to fund the registration and travel for a conference the FMEA conference in Tampa. $338.00 for housing will be paid by the band boosters. Motion was made by George Kenney to fund, 2^nd by Mike Pelfry, motion passed to fund the registration and travel for the amount of $130.00

CTE Programs/School Majors:

Dr. Kenney and Rich Carney reported to the committee about a tour they had taken At PGT. They were impressed with the company and what it offers their employees. PGT is interested in students coming to work for them out of high school to be trained by them.

Dr Kenney informed the committee about Legislation that was passed to make High Schools more focused in course work towards majors. The District is also working on this issue with career and Technical components attached to the academies. This change will take place next fall. More information will be coming after Christmas break on the progress of this change.
