SAC/SDMT Meeting Minutes

September 23, 2002

 

 

Members in Attendance:  Rich Carney, Atanas Kobryn, Cathy Sasher, Julie D’Abrosca, Janice Deller, Jim Clark, Kathy Lower, Cathy Ziner, Mike Pelfrey, Anne Rehth, Iona Janniere, Ted Watson, Josh Bellis,

Absent:  Stephanie Chapman, Ellen Hughes, John Salafia, George Kenney, Linda Thornton,

Visitors:  Josefina Saavedra, Marti Watson, Barbara Blake

 

Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm

 

Review and Update of Operational Guidelines:  Guidelines were review.

 

Approval of Minutes:    A motion that the Sept 9, 2002 minutes be accepted by Jim Clark and 2nd by Ted Watson.  Minutes were accepted.

 

Old Business:  After a brief discussion a decision was made to make the following recommendation to Dr. Kenney:  Suggest to Mr. Richard Jimison of  the Sarasota County Community Action Board to look for a representative at another committee that could offer more selections of North Port residents.  Atanas Kobryn suggested the civic association where all members are North Port residents.

 

New Business: 

 

          Professional Development Funds Requests:

                    Laura David, requeted $124.00 for a bus to go to Lemon Bay Park to study the Eco System.  Jim Clark made a motion to approve the funding request, 2nd by Ted Watson, motion carried and the funding was approved as requested.

                    Donna Hill, NPHS reading specialist, requested $230.00 to fund a portion a reading conference to attend on  9/23  in Orlando.  Jim Clark made a motion to approve the request, 2nd by Ted Watson, chair opened request to discussion.   After discussion motion was carried and funding was approved as requested. 

 

School Improvement Plan:    Dr. Saavedra presented the SIP.  Jim Clark made a motion to accept the 2002-2003 plan, 2nd by Ted Watson, plan was accepted with Rewards for Academic achievements added to the Reading Standard of Excellance #1.  Kathy Lower highlighted typo errors and presented them to Dr. Saavedra  for correction. 

 

 

Josh Bellis gave an update on the progress of the survey for the dress code.  Questions were reviewed and the survey results will be presented at the next meeting.
