SAC Minutes

January 19, 2007

Present:  D. Maguire, T. Wilson, S. Good, D. Cronin, J. Gilpin, R. Hagemann, D. Nelson, M. Gorman

  1. Mr. Hagemann requests SAC funding Dr. Chap Clark to address our staff on March 12.  Dr. Clark is an expert on adolescent culture in public schools.  His presentation to our staff would address Goals 5 and 6 of our school improvement plan.  The cost would be $1,000.00.  Approved.

  1. Mary Gorman requests additional funding for the Renaissance Math Center.  The math teachers see great value in students receiving homework assistance and would like to continue to make it available through the spring.  SAC approves up to $2,000.00 for the continued operation of the RMC three mornings each week.

  1. Jan Gilpin requests funds to provide snacks and drinks to students during FCAT.  Dry snacks such as cheese crackers and water are helpful to students during long testing periods.  This is especially true for our disadvantaged students and those that have a very late lunch period.  SAC approves funding not to exceed $1,500.00.

  1. Summer school – Mr. Hagemann reports that there will be two sessions of summer school for ESE students and 6th grade students that fail a course.  More details will follow as the district decides how to address the A++ plan.

Respectfully submitted,

Jan Gilpin
