The following items were discussed:
- Mr.
Hagemann announced that Dr. Chap Clark might be coming to Sarasota in March. Dr. Clark addresses adolescent culture
in America’s public schools. Mr.
Hagemann encourages SAC members to visit the website www.parenteen.com to help determine
if it would be appropriate to have Dr. Clark address our staff while he is
Sarasota.
- ActivBoards
– The school board is set to approve funding these for all staff. During the first round of installation
24 MMS teachers will get boards.
Teacher training is included in this initiative.
- Security
Cameras – 46 cameras are set to be installed over winter break. Mr. Leon, the SRO, and
telecommunications decide where to locate these. It is a 6-week installation period. Monitors will be limited to
administration. Parents will be
advised.
- The
Renaissance Math Center started this past Tuesday in the computer
lab. The center is open every
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting at 8:30 for math homework
help. Passes went home with
students. This is not
tutoring. For those students that
arrive without homework, FCAT Explorer is available. Two teachers, three days per week will
cost just over $1,000.00 to the end of January. Math teachers requested this help for
students. Funding approved by SAC.
- The
School Improvement Plan went to the district with activities for

For example, all schools are to focus on NCLB and closing the
achievement gap. Our plan needed to
change from Student Service personnel working on in-house collaboration to
