Update on impact of Referrendumresouces and staffing

  1. Program Presentation: Mathematics Department                                    Barb Maechtle   Program was rescheduled for next month’s meeting, due to time constraints pertaining to item #3, funding requests

 

  1. Funding Request     Balance as of 2/16/06 is $12,370.96
    1. D. Mayer – Artists in Schools  $585.00 was approved.
    2. Conference attendance “Writing to Learn” proposal from LA Dept. $3,385.45 – this request was approved.  Another conference was also suggested: Janet Allen. This opportunity occurs June 12 – 14.
    3. F. Martinez – funding request was submitted at the beginning of the meeting and members decided they would address the late entry. After a lengthy discussion, it was determined that a sub-committee would be formed to review the request and its implications. The committee would consist of at least one SAC member, Literacy coach, LA curriculum coordinator, ESOL representative. If the committee comes to concensus on a decision, then the SAC would endorse the expenditure. If the committee was not able to endorse the proposal, it would be tabled until next meeting. SAC members also directed that Ms. Martinez find a way to share the materials with the other ESOL teacher.

  2. Update on Middle Level Reform and NeXt Generation Teachers           R. Hagemann  Sarasota is ahead of the curve with regard to the latest Senate Bill. Extended day, professional development, and NeXt Generation initiatives are all in line with the newest legislation.
