LNS Technology Update:

Mary Gambo presented a power point about the State of Technology at LNS. Among the items viewed were the District 5 Year Equipment Plan, ActivBoards (all installed, now working on increasing number of ActivVotes and Slates), Student Stations, Software (county is moving toward district wide purchases in order to save money and provide equity).

 

Some questions that were addressed:

  • Will there be Smartweb for LNS? Smartweb is being phased out and will be replaced by Angel Web.
  • AR Points? Discussion regarding acquiring tests for more books to make AR points easier to obtain.

 

Plato Course Recovery for middle school:

Students must pass three each of language arts, math, social studies and science to be promoted to grade nine. Currently, eight students are using Plato. The goal is to complete the coursework in a semester. While online work may be completed at home, tests are administered at the school site.

 

Key Performance Indicators:

SAC members reviewed the handout which included data regarding student enrollment, staff training, volunteer hours, parent communication via automated parent calls, SRI and FORF scores.

 

Preliminary Budget:

A big unknown to be dealt with is the class size amendment. Principals receive budgets on March 26, 2008.

 

PALS Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation Grant:

 
The Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation was recognized as an outstanding corporate business partner because they awarded LNS a $10,000 grant for a sensory motor room for the autistic unit. Deanna Nicholas was recognized as well for writing the grant.
