Presentation
by Sheryl Cutrona on Fall Fluency Assessment
Fluency is a good predictor of how students will do in
reading. This is based on a one minute
read.
The results of the assessment are positive. Cheryl explained the difference between SRA
and Scott Foresman
approaches to teaching reading.
Meyer has data regarding other aspects of reading.
Reorganization of
Judy
Holden spoke about the reorganization of the media center and the
bookshelves. The collection has been
gone through and downloaded through a company called Mackin. This company also gives suggestions on how to
complete our collection. Judy also
talked about the American Girl Club at this school stating that the books are
full of authentic material and history.
The club meets once a month and that they use funds from the book
fair. The company uses dolls as an
incentive to order books. Our club has
kindergarten through 5th grade members but anyone is welcome . We now have about 28 members and they read
one book each month and do coordinating activities that can be tied to the
curriculum.

finance for next year. We are projected to have
1200-1300 students next year. LNS will be open to school
choice next year.
The district is planning tow budgets in case the referendum does not
pass. A copy of a letter
regarding the referendum to parents was given
out. There was a question as to whether
or not we could have
voter registration at this school and that was
affirmed.

Joy Mahler was not absent from the last SAC meeting
but was in attendance at a public meeting and community
forum on the school district for people to be able to
give their opinions on how to increase scores and deal with
the budget.
Richard Haze from Citizens for Better Schools will
speak at the SAC meeting in January.
