Heron Creek Middle School

November 2, 2006

Present: Carlos Albino, Vince Dennen, Cheri Dennen, Richelle Taylor-Harris, Ted Watson, Derek Jenkins, Mario Ponticelli, Katherine Sogolow, Deborah Charles, Brenda Niswander

Minutes of October 5, 2006 SAC meeting were reviewed and approved.

New Business:

Request by Jean Thompson for $3,663.14 for 295 books for 8^th grade Social Studies teachers was motioned to be tabled until next meeting.

Request by Marla Gibson for $6,000 for coaching stipends for soccer and wrestling coaches was motioned to be tabled until next meeting.

Request by Colleen Glenney for $1,250 for funding to present at the 2007 Assoc. of School Curriculum Development Conference in Anaheim, Calif. in March was approved.

Further discussion for funding for Mark Grossenbacher to attend will be researched.

Request by Nancy Cope for $930 to attend American Library Association meeting in Seattle in January was approved.

Request by Dr. Sogolow for permission to conduct fundraiser for Theater To Go by selling Home Interior items was approved.

Request by Jennifer Patterson for $549.10 to present at National Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. in November was approved.

Chris Cale, Assistant Principal, requested $350 for the “Mystic Pizza Reading” to provide pizza/soda to students in reading program who have shown academic/behavior improvement was approved.

Discussion continued regarding distribution of A+ Award funds that go back to the school. Several ideas and suggestions were presented and it was requested that perhaps the Media Specialist and Instructional Technology Facilitator be present at next meeting for further discussion of distribution of funds.

Motion and approved that an additional SAC meeting be scheduled for Friday, November 10 at 7:30 a.m.
