SAC MEETING 12/01/05

Present: Scott Wilson, Fran Chippendale, Vince Dennen, Mimi Steger, Richelle Taylor-Harris, Cheri Dennen, Mark Freeman, Katherine Perrault, Derek Jenkins, Brian Chippendale

Minutes of 11/03/05 SAC Meeting were reviewed and approved.

New Business:

Michelle Channing requested funding to attend the Staff Development for Educators conference for herself, Shannon Ruck and Christine Oliver in Orlando in January.

Motion approved for Title II funds to cover expenses for conference.

Nancy Cope, Media Specialist, requested funds for professional development conference in San Antonio, Texas in January. Motion approved to table discussion until next SAC Meeting in January. Further information on conference is requested.

Jean Thompson, ACI coordinator, explained to committee the on-line testing currently being implemented at HCMS (Sarasota County Planning Tool) and the usefulness of the immediate feedback provided to teachers when students are tested.

Katherine Perrault requested funds to purchase sewing machines and supplies for drama department. Motion approved for $1,000 for purchases.

Mr. Wilson discussed the upcoming referendum March 14, 2006. If referendum is not approved, Sarasota County will see a 65 million dollar reduction in funding for schools.

Approval of referendum will help support No Child Left Behind legislation.
