SAC Meeting 4/7/05Heron Creek Middle School

 

Attendance:  Ted Watson, Kris Lawrence, Deb Earley, Eric Idoyaga, Lois Mancuso,

Minutes of 3/24/05 SAC Meeting were reviewed and approved.

 

New Business:

 

Billy Payne, an 8th grade Science teacher, requested funds for bus transportation for students to attend the Lemon Bay Environmental Center, a nature preserve in Englewood, the 2nd week in May for 4 days.  Motion approved for $400 for bus transportation.

 

Richard Lindner, a 6th grade Language Arts teacher, requested funds for students to attend a field trip to Myakka River State Park in May.  Motion approved for $1,000 towards cost of buses and boat tour.

 

Dana Lowery, an ESE teacher, requested funding to attend a conference in Washington D.C. in April regarding federal legislation and policy making.  Motion denied for funding request.

 

Ted Watson, 8th grade Social Studies teacher, notified board of the stepping forth ceremony for 8th graders.  There will be two separate ceremonies to accommodate all of the students and families.  Grade 8B, C, and D will attend the first session from

10:30-12:00 and Grade 8A, E, and F will attend the second session from 12:30-2:00.

 Dr. Gary Norris, Superintendent, and Dr. Carol Todd, school board member, will be the guest speakers.  HCMS chorus and orchestra will also perform at stepping forth ceremonies.

 

8th grade dance will be held on May 20th from 6:30-8:30 in HCMS cafetorium.

 

PTO reported that they need business sponsors for the HCMS Golf Tournament scheduled for June 4, 2005 at Heron Creek Golf and Country Club.

 

Next SAC Meeting will be May 5 at 7:30 a.m.
