SAC Meeting 11/4/04 at Heron Creek Middle School

 

Attendance:  Scott Wilson, Sarah Terhune, Lois Mancuso, Ted Watson, Katherine Perrault, Eric Idoyaga, Deb Earley, Beth Smith

 

Minutes of 10/7/04 SAC meeting were approved.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

National Junior Honor Society requested permission to sell flowers for Valentines Day fundraiser.  Approval was given for fundraiser, with details to be discussed at next SAC meeting.

 

Bev Templeton requested funds for STARLAB at Heron Creek (a portable planetarium from Pineview School) for 7 days for all 7th graders to participate in.  Approval was given for $350 for the rental fee for STARLAB.

 

Raymond Wilson, Chorus Director, requested funds for the Florida Music Educators Association conference in Tampa in January to include several students to attend as well.

Motion accepted to approve $650-$1150 for the cost of the conference, registration and lodging for up to 10 students to attend if they qualify.

 

Colleen Glenney, band instructor, requested funds for registration for the Florida Music Educators Association conference in Tampa in January.  Motion approved for $75 to cover the registration fee.

 

Nancy Cope, media specialist, requested $500 to attend the ALA Library Mid Winter Conference in Boston in January.  Motion denied for approval of funding for this conference.

 

Board members are invited to an open dialogue with Dr. Norris at Taylor Ranch Elementary on Nov. 18 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. 

 

Five Star School Program was discussed and it was suggested that Leah Hoy, Pals Coordinator at HCMS, be invited to the next meeting to discuss her involvement in

coordinating this program at HCMS.

 

PTO and Drama Dept. are sponsoring a dinner theatre and silent auction on Dec. 3rd at Heron Creek.  Decisions regarding this event to be made by Dr. Perrault, drama teacher.

 

Motion was approved to hold the next SAC meeting on December 9th at 7:30 a.m.
