SAC Meeting 9/9/04 – Heron Creek Middle School

 

Attendance:  Ted Watson, Lois Mancuso, Sarah Terhune, Scott Wilson, Deb Earley, Richelle Taylor-Harris, Eric Idoyaga

 

Minutes from meeting of 7/15/05 were reviewed and approved

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

SAC fund balance approximately $20,000 for 2004-2005 school year

 

Dr.Perrault (drama teacher) requested funds for “play reader” books for 35 students at a cost of $730.  Motion approved for $730 to purchase books for drama dept.

 

Jason Miller and Kristyn Trealout requested funds to attend Florida Reading Association conference.  No subs will be required (weekend conference).  Motion approved for $90 each to cover registration fees for conference.

 

Darlene Rosetti and Jennifer Johnson requested funds to attend PE conference in Orlando.  Committee felt that this request did not fit the school improvement plan goals and denied request.

 

Ted Watson, Social Studies Department Head, requested funds for four teachers to attend the Florida Council for Social Studies in Sarasota on 10/15 (no subs required).  Motion approved for $300 to cover registration costs for four teachers (Marla Gibson, Jennifer Patterson, Derek Jenkins, Ted Watson).

 

PTO requested permission to hold “pie sale” fundraiser in October.  Motion approved.

First PTO meeting will be September 30th at 6:30 in the Media Center.

 

Mr. Wilson reported that 33 students and 5 adults from Ghana, Africa will be visiting HCMS from October 17-November 3.  HCMS is accepting applications for host families

for these students and adults while they are visiting here.
