SAC MEETING 7/15/04 at Heron Creek Middle School

Minutes from meeting of 5/6/04 were reviewed and approved

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Discussion involved the growth at HCMS and the need for additional staff, new teams will be added to each grade level.  Ted Watson requested $2500 from SAC for maps, books, materials, etc.  Motion approved for $2,500 for new materials for Social Studies Dept.

 

$2,289 was the profit made from the HCMS golf tournament.  Next golf tournament will be held on June 4, 2005 at Heron Creek.

 

Mr. Wilson reviewed the grade HCMS received.  HCMS received a “B” grade (396) and missed an “A” grade by 14 points (410).

 

51% of students scored below grade level in reading and math for incoming 6th graders.

 

At HCMS the scores were as follows:

READING (a gain of 3% from 2002-2003)

            Grade 6:  5% improvements

            Grade 7:  10% improvement

            Grade 8:  3% improvements

            AYP:  African American:  gain of 14%

            AYP:  Hispanic:  gain of 27%

            AYP:  White:  gain of 4%

            ESE:   AYP:  4% decline

            Low Income:  gain of 8%

            LEP:  gain of 1%

MATH:

            Grade 6:  7% decline

            Grade 7:  5% increase

            Grade 8:  5% increase

 

Other business:

 

HCMS received another $30,000 grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation

 

Three board members will need to be replaced for the 2004-2005 school year.
