*  Chairperson, Cathy Levann, called the meeting to order at 2:45 p.m.

*  Robin Hagood reviewed the details of the 2005-06 budget for Gulf Gate Elementary

~The Budget will allow the school to maintain its present staffing with no losses.

~Funding carried over from the 2004-05 school year will allow us the flexibility to hire

another staff member if needed.  These funds will also pay the $4,500 owed to the

District to keep our staff status quo.

~Referendum Dollars are to be used for Personnel.  Referendum dollars account for 15.6

teachers staffed at Gulf Gate.

~ Based on projections for the 2005-06 school year, class sizes will likely remain the same

at Gulf Gate.

*  Discussion was had as to the best use for the two A-2 positions (Technology and Science) for the

upcoming school year.  Ideas were presented for further discussion at an upcoming SAC

 meeting.

* Robin Hagood outlined the procedures for the 2005-06 student placement/class lists.

~A combined team of teachers from the present and future grade level, guidance counselors

and the principal will coordinate a balanced placement of students in classrooms.

~Parents will be able to fill out a guided form to be disbursed in April, outlining their

request for the type of teacher they feel would best facilitate their child’s education.  These

forms will be given to the child’s classroom teacher to be used in the placement process.

~Parents will be encouraged to speak with their classroom teacher or guidance counselor

should they have questions or concerns for their child.

~Staff will have the placement process completed prior to the end of the 2004-05 school

year, which will allow teachers to better plan for their next year’s classroom.  Parents will

be notified of their child’s placement as soon as possible.

~Incoming Kindergarten parents will be allowed to make specific teacher requests as there is

no prior criteria to have staff make a determination.  Forms will be available after

  Kindergarten Roundup in April.

*  Close of Meeting:  The next SAC Meeting will be held on March 14, 2005 at 9:00 am in the

 Media Center.
