Garden Elementary SAC Minutes

April 24, 2007

Welcome –Mr. McQueen welcomed SAC (School Advisory Council) members, FLC (Faculty Leadership Council), and staff at 3:30 PM. He thanked everyone present for participating in the 2007 – 2008 school budget process.

 

Mr. McQueen then asked all teams to report on the Budget Option for which they reached consensus. The majority of teams chose Options 1, Modified Option 2, and Option 3.  After giving all those present an opportunity to express what they felt were the most important needs for our school, a list was created. The staff decided we needed to upgrade the .5 Home/School Liaison position, upgrade the Media aide to a Media Specialist, create remedial teaching positions, and redo the Specialist wheel.

After much discussion, Mr. McQueen asked Ron Skow, FLC Chairperson, and Gabrielle O’Berry, SAC Chairperson, if they would agree to returning to the Budget Options that had been submitted by the Monday morning deadline for a final discussion. Both committee chairpersons agreed.

 

We then went over the three options that most teams had opted for during discussion at the beginning of the meeting – Options 1 and 3 and Modified 2. Mr. McQueen then asked FLC if there was consensus about a certain option. There was not, so Mr. Skow called for a vote. The vote was for Modified Option 2. Mrs. O’Berry told Mr. McQueen that SAC reached consensus and agreed with FLC’s decision for Modified Option 2.

 

 

The following is how we will be allocating the $175,208:

 

1. Upgrade .5 Home/School Liaison to 1.0  (wheel K-2)                $35,458

 

2. Upgrade Media Aide to Media Specialist (wheel 3-5)             $37,297

 

3. Purchase .6 Gator (Remedial) Teacher                                    $42,550

 

4. Upgrade SSP3 Science Aide to SSP7 Aide (wheel K-5)          $6465

 

5. Purchase SSP3 Gator (Remedial) Aide                                    $27,154

 

6. Purchase SSP1 – (Media checkout/Clerical/Cafeteria)            $21,151

 

                                                                   Total:                    $170,075

 

                                                                   Surplus:                 $5,133
