1)    Welcome –Mr. McQueen welcomed SAC members, FLC, and staff at 3:35 PM. He thanked everyone present for participating in the 2007 –

2008 school budget process. Mrs. O’Berry, SAC Chairperson, introduced the School Advisory Council members. Ron Skow, FLC Chairperson, introduced the Faculty Leadership Council representatives.

2)   2007 – 2008 Budget Update – John McQueen then presented Garden’s budget. The total allocation for the personnel section of the budget, including referendum, is $3,925,270. Part A of the budget remains fixed while Part B has $175,208 in discretionary funds. After summarizing the financial information, Mr. McQueen presented four options for consideration. Mr. McQueen reviewed the options. All had an opportunity to ask questions. After a final discussion, Mr. McQueen reminded us to choose an option that would be most beneficial to our students. The four budget options have been emailed to the staff. Mrs. O’Berry will email the options to SAC members this afternoon. Mr. McQueen would like any additional budget options staff and SAC members come up with emailed to him by Monday, April 23 by 8:00 AM. Mrs. O’Berry asked SAC members to email her and let her know if they would not be able to attend the April 24 meeting.

3) Budget – Gabrielle O’Berry reported that the new April balance was $4,482.10. Funds taken out included $492.99 for FCAT snacks and $106.82 for the chairperson’s stipend. There were no questions or concerns, so the balance stands as reported.

4) Budget Request – Susan VanAlstine, ITC, submitted a request for 48 licenses @ $24 each totaling $1,152 which would continue our school’s subscription to TeacherWeb for the 2007 – 2008 school year. Mrs. O’Berry asked SAC members what they thought about the request. SAC members who were Garden parents said they use and like the TeacherWeb sites. Aggie Harrison stated that as a teacher, it is easy to use. After more discussion, SAC members agreed to fund 48 licenses for $1,152 with the expectation that each teacher will use and update his/her site. Mr. McQueen stated that he would come up with specific guidelines for teachers to follow concerning the updating and the maintenance of the TeacherWeb sites.

5) One Book/One Community – Gabrielle O’Berry reported that the “One Book, One Community” program held on April 2 with author and underwater photographer, Michael Patrick O’Neill, was an exciting and well-attended event. We hope to see more events like this one during the next school year.

Gabrielle O’Berry then reported that Mrs. Ionescu set the wheels in motion for “Read Across Garden.” It will be a school-wide event during the week of May 7 – May 11. Mrs. O’Berry told SAC members to put it on their calendars as they will probably be called in to read. Any ideas for our reading spectacular are also welcome.

•The meeting adjourned at 4:35 PM.
