·        Terri Ramey kept the minutes of the September 17th SAC meeting.   Discussed allocation of funds to Garden Elementary. The choices are to either allocate all of the funds to staff or share between staff and children.  A Share Decision Team will meet September 18th to recommend how the $60,000 will be divided up.  The SAC Committee will look at the recommendations and vote at the October 15th meeting.  A preliminary plan will be emailed to all staff members before the October 15th meeting.

·        SPE Approval- Reviewed Campaign for Excellence Strategic Plan Yearly Evaluation & Goals, Strategies, Resources and Time.  These are reviewed every year.  Mr. Quinn explained two new teachers will be provided each year to be able to maintain smaller class sizes.  This is necessary due to the 2002 vote to reduce class sizes and still be able to succeed under this campaign.  It was pointed out by Mr. Quinn that Garden did not meet their goal in ESE but that almost every school in Sarasota County received a "no" in the ESE category.  Mr. Quinn suggested obtaining an Aid to work with ESE kids in the CCC program in order to complete the 30 hours each year.  Currently ESE children average 12 hours per year in this program.

·        SAC Budget Approval - SAC did not okay the 2003-2004 Budget because of a question as to what funds were left over from last year's budget.  Amy will be reviewing last year's budget and will report findings at the October meeting.  A question was asked on how to access money for training days.  Mr. Quinn explained that there is $100 available for every teacher to either pay for subs or for costs incurred for training.

·        SAC Operational Guidelines Approval - It was discussed that time served on the SAC Committee will be voted on in the future for terms served after two years.

·        Student Representatives -  The committee discussed having a student representative present at SAC meetings.  The committee decided this is not the right atmosphere for a young student and that other areas would benefit better with student representation.

·        PALS Training - All spots were filled for Garden Elementary for PALS Training.

·        Vice-Chair Election - Terri Ramey will serve as Vice-Chairman of the SAC Committee.

·        Other – e-mail addresses -  Member of the SAC Committee provided their email addresses for better communication opportunities.

Meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
