SAC Minutes

SAC Members Present:  Bonnie Adams, Annie Avrutis, Jose Diaz, Susan Harris, Laura

        Kingsley, Cindy Newell, Maria Ortiz, DeeDee Rice, Herb Waters

 

 

 

1)    Welcome – Annie Avrutis

 

2)    Minutes from last meeting – Approved as written.

 

3)    SRI Data School Wide – Catherine Burkee will join us at the next meeting.

 

4)    Fall Leadership Conference – Annie Avrutis – Discussed highlights from the Conference.  It provided excellent information for first-time SAC members.

 

5)    Surtax Publicity – Annie Avrutis – It was noted that the signs that are up do not say that it’s a renewal of the tax, not a new tax.  A flyer was distributed, along with an informational handout.

 

6)    New Hires Update – Laura Kingsley – We have several new staff members.  They are:  Donna Jeffreys, 1st; Kate Banks, K; Jackye Buzzell, Cafeteria Monitor; Muhammed Muzammil, ESE Aide.   There is another District-wide hiring freeze at this time. 

 

7)    Plan for Hispanic/ESOL Families  – Laura Kingsley -- SCOPE is acting as a resource for Fruitville regarding family involvement.  Dr. Kingsley would like to use Lee Conmigo on November 16th at 6:30 for 30 minutes as a stepping point to reach out to our Hispanic families.  She would like to brainstorm regarding the performance of our Hispanic children. 

 

8)    Part of the Janie Poe area has been vacated, and the rest will be vacated after three years in the Housing renovation project.

 

9)    We’ve received the Certificate for A+ status.

 

10)  Next Monday is Reading night.  Please attend if you can.

 

11)  Discussed receiving future minutes and agendas – everyone would like to receive them via e-mail.
