Members Present: Annie Avrutis, Pam Colucci, Cara Kanner, Laura Kingsley, Cindy Newell, Charlotte Stallings, Kathy Van Praag, Myreli Zamora

1) Discussed School Improvement Plan for 2006-2007.

· Areas of concern:

a. Limited English Proficiency

· Items to add:

o PTO Tech Night, Science Night & Reading Night

o A+ dollars provide $5 to every student to purchase books at the book fair

o AR points increased and standardized school-wide

o Parent Literacy Council Night

o IT coach to review bilingual resources

o ESOL liaisons give tips at every staff meeting

· Dr. Kingsley will ask if the ESOL liaison can attend the next SAC meeting.

· Discussed having homework help one night a week in the evening for families in the Media Center and Computer Lab.

· Discussed incentives for children to write. Students who turn in writing could be entered into a weekly raffle, and it will reward them for just entering something which isn’t necessarily to be published or read aloud.

· Suggestion of making posters and possibly having their own T-shirts for being a member of a “Mind Club” or “Fast on Facts.”

· Add using technology in the Science Lab.
