SAC minutes from meeting of 4/26/06

Members present: Laura Kingsley, Pamela Bartelmay, Cindy Millar, Myreli Zamora, Annie Avrutis, Cara Kanner, and Kathy Van Praag

· District budget has been decreased because of population growth declines throughout district, and increased costs of insurance, fuel and teacher salaries. We reviewed class sizes with projections and money/units for teachers. We currently need to cut 3.20 units.

· Reviewed “Specific Financial Information’ which breaks the budget down further into individual units.

· Discussed suggested position cuts. Questions were brought up regarding cutting computer lab from the wheel. Teachers are expected to integrate technology in their curriculum. Along with this, our Expressive Arts class can integrate technology.

ESOL aide could be cut since the majority of the teachers are now certified and required to use ESOL strategies in the classroom.

Will meet again May 1^st, after SDMT team has met again.
