SAC minutes from meeting of 2/16/06

Members present: Laura Kingsley,  Cindy Millar, Myreli Zamora, Cara Kanner. Henry Pugh, and Kathy Van Pragg

Kathy gave an example of how our new idea of Mathletics shows the process of how we address and issue such as low math scores.  Our preschool and autistic programs were praised by the Board. We are apparently a model for the rest of the county and others outside the county.

      *    Referendum: Andrew Jaffee, one of our PTO board members, will be the spokesman to spearhead the grassroots efforts for the referendum drive.  PTO will be doing a mailing to parents to show what the referendum has done for Fruitville. Andrew will also be conducting a sign-waving program. We discussed that a big element is that people don’t understand the tax is not going to increase but will stay the same and only be extended. That issue needs to be addressed. We also need to let the older population know that our kids future is important to them and their welfare too.

      *    Begin budget discussions. Referendum vote will be over by then.
