CRANBERRY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
SAC MEETING MINUTES
January 30, 2007
The meeting was called to order by President, Don Cramer at 4:00 p.m. Ms. Daniels began the meeting using an
overhead presentation of the test data from third through fifth grade students
showing the progress made from the beginning of school. She used the Sarasota County Planning Tool to
indicate areas where improvement was needed and how the teachers are using this
to help their students. She then passed
out a list of activities at Cranberry from the beginning of school through
February which are designed to help students prepare for the
FCAT. These include the following:
- Before/After
school tutoring sponsored by a Grant
- Cross-Age
Tutorial Program in February
- School-wide
training in Mary Lewis Strategies – sponsored by Gulf Coast
grant
- Writing
Tutoring by teachers on February 3 for fourth graders
- Lunch
Buddies – Ms. Daniels and Mr. Carey working with low students
- FCAT
Rehearsals on January 9th and February 12
- Reading
Resource – push in for lowest 5 in every class
- Math
Lab – lowest 25% in grade 5 math going to Math Lab for specials every day
in February
- Parent
Nights for each grade level
- Math
Club – after school for accelerated 4th and 5th
grade students
- AIMS
training for teachers
- Kagan
Strategies training for teachers – 30 hours
Several members shared their thoughts regarding how the FCAT
is currently used and how they would like to see a change. Ms. Daniels said she appreciated their input
and that perhaps sometime in the future changes might be made. However, our goal as a school is to do
everything we can to help all of our students reach their fullest potential and
improve their FCAT scores.
