CRANBERRY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

SAC MEETING MINUTES

Tuesday, February 7, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m. by Don Cramer, President.  He introduced Deborah Ganster, Cranberry’s liaison to the Citizens for Better Schools.  Mrs. Ganster brought up the following items for SAC members to be aware of:

1)     February 16, 2006 there will be a south county Citizens for Better Schools meeting at the YMCA at 6:30 p.m.  She encouraged all members to be in attendance if possible.  Signs and other information will be distributed at this meeting

2)     There will be an evening with the North Port principals and Dr. Norris on February 23, 2006, at Heron Creek Middle School, at 6:30 p.m.

3)     All SAC members need to be encouraging everyone they come in contact with to register by February 13th, and please be sure to vote on March 14.

4)     All SAC members were encouraged to write positive letters to the local newspapers.

The Referendum impact on Cranberry was then discussed and a handout on that impact was distributed to the members.

Ms. Daniels asked for suggestions on how we can better get the information out to parents.  The following ideas were mentioned:

1)     Have students write letters to their parents to remind them to vote.

2)     Advise parents what Cranberry would lose if the referendum does not pass.

3)     Secure the help of parents to hold signs in the community after permits have been obtained.

4)     Organize a time on Saturdays at the school for parents/students to make signs to be used in the above activity.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:45 a.m.

Respectfully submitted

Margaret Roberson, Secretary
