SIP Proposals:
Teachers To Speakers of Other
Languages (TSOL)
Donna Fazel requested $649.74 (registration, hotel,
food) to attend a TSOL Conference on April 29, 30 and May 1, 2004 in
Tampa. By attending the conference,
Donna feels that she would keep current on the latest strategies for ESOL since
she is the only ESOL teacher at Brookside.
Current thinking is that ESOL students should be distributed evenly
throughout the teams, and Donna would like to gather specific information about
this change. Brookside will pay for the
sub from school discretionary funds.
Dawn Carey motioned to approve $449.74 for the conference and Joe
Bazenas seconded the motion. Consensus
was reached.
Karen Rose presented the 2004/2005 budget proposal. Tracy Witzer motioned to accept the budget and Steve Bloom seconded the motion. Consensus was reached.
Deb Markley spoke about Arts Day and noted that it was a huge success. Deb polled her students and they overwhelmingly said that Arts Day was not long enough. Deb saw this as a positive and felt there was a good balance between hands-on and demonstrations with the artists and students.
Debra Reese reminded everyone that the PALS breakfast is April 22nd at Michael’s On East.
Tracy Witzer reported that all 5 Star Books are due in May.
The Web will hold a rummage sale to benefit the Landscape Beautification Project On April 17th at Brookside. Donations are currently being accepted.
There were no further questions or concerns and the meeting adjourned at 2:55 p.m.
