Deb Shannon withdrew her
request.
Pat Lucas was unable to attend the meeting.
Karen Rose discussed the importance of instructional time and the need to discontinue pulling students from classes to attend extracurricular activities/meetings during their core classes. The administrative staff and lead teachers met and all agreed they do not want to interfere with the focus students needed for their main content areas of instruction.
Karen Rose confirmed that AIM Academy will be in place this fall for the 6th grade. The AIM focus group is in the process of creating a brochure and application, which should be complete by Spring break.
Joe Bazenas confirmed that as of today 100% of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students have taken the reading and math portion of the FCAT. We have some makeup tests for science. Brookside is well within the threshold of NCLB. Student feedback was very positive and confident. We are aligned, and teaching what we are supposed to be teaching at Brookside.
Joe Bazenas discussed summer school for 6th graders, with criteria based on an AIP. Level 1 & 2 5th graders will be identified by the elementary schools along with assistance from Brookside. There will be two (2) three week summer school sessions
The PALS office is looking for approximately 100 summer school mentors to work with 3rd graders with their reading skills. They currently have 437 signed up who will need a mentor.
Construction for the concreteable additions will begin during spring break and will take four months to complete. The concreteable is two stories with five classrooms on each floor.
There were no further questions or concerns.
