S.A.C. MINUTES
November 13, 2002 at 2:15 P.M.

Introductions were made of all members present.
Minutes were reviewed from October 9, 2002. Russell Binder made a motion to accept the minutes. Nick Kohler seconded the motion. Consensus was reached.
An important announcement was made regarding the health of one of our S.A.C. members and our thoughts and prayers went out to this person.
Requests for funds were as follows:
Laura Marshall and Andy Hoskins were requesting funds to buy uniforms for the Brookside Middle School Pep Squad 2002-2003. The total amount was not to exceed $680.00. Motion was made by Mary Beth Devaney to accept this request. Nick Kohler seconded motion. Consensus was reached.
Linda Lyons requested funds to attend a Grant Writing Workshop in Tampa for two days plus pay for her substitute. Motion was made by Jeff Hradek to accept this request. Nick Kohler seconded motion. Consensus was reached.
Michelle Drake is requesting materials for Science curriculum for all Science teachers at Brookside. This year (2002-2003) 8th grade will be taking a practice test in Science for FCAT. It will be a mandatory test in the 2003-2004 school year. Mrs. Drake requested $2,400.00. After much discussion a motion was made by Cory Williams to accept half of this amount for equipment and have the Science Department staff try to raise consumable funds on their own such as selling products at Science Fair, etc. Nick Kohler seconded motion for $1,200.00. Consensus was reached.
Karen Rose was requesting money for CRISS training for some of our new teachers. Tami Monaghan and Joan Cardinale are certified CRISS training instructors and will teach the class. The total cost shall not exceed $1,880.00. Jeff Hradek made the motion to accept this proposal. Nick Kohler seconded motion. Consensus was reached.
Maria Todd, Reading Resource Teacher at Brookside, was requesting funds for read aloud books, novels, and literature books to help motivate our lower functioning reading students. The total cost will not exceed $500.00. Mary Beth Devaney made the motion to accept this proposal. Mary Sue DeHart seconded motion. Consensus was reached.
