PTO/SAC Board Meeting
Meeting was called to order at
Welcome: Sign-in sheet was passed around.
Secretary’s Report:
*The minutes
from February’s meeting were read by Shelly Kilduff. The minutes were then seconded and accepted.
Treasurer’s Report:
Britt
Galipault read the report for Feb. and YTD.
Highlights
include:
-Wachovia
checking balance as of
-Petty
cash balance: $81.51
-Net
income for Feb. (unreconciled): $190.73
-Net
income YTD: $2,963.48
*Special
notes: Net income for Feb. includes
$350.13 in (net) income that belongs to Student Council. Without the money that belongs to Student
Council, net income for Feb. is $159.40 and net income YTD is $2,613.35. Fun Run income so far is from sales of
volunteer T-shirts.
Adopt-A –Class Update:
Stacey
Blackwell mentioned that she did not have the current list of what classes were
still remaining but that there main goal this year was to make sure that every
class gets adopted. Cindy Russo
mentioned a couple of businesses that would possibly be willing to adopt and
their names were taken down and will be contacted through our Adopt-A-Class
committee.
Citizens for Better Schools:
Corry
Tyle passed around several signs for holding up and
stickers about the upcoming vote. The
next meeting for CBS is taking place tonight (
Stacey
Blackwell will be providing information as to various locations and times that
PALS Report:
Viola
Cashmore mentioned that we currently have 3,054
logged volunteer hours. She encouraged
teachers to make sure all our volunteers are logging their hours each time.
Misc./Other:
Mindy
Simmons shared about her music CD and its use as a possible fundraiser for
Fun Run:
Julie
Lopez showed PTO the Fun Run shirts for this year. All t-shirts are in, she has enough
volunteers now, and we have oranges for snacks for the students. She mentioned that she still needed to figure
out about cups and water for the students and business partners such as Sweetbay were mentioned to contact for possible donations.
Spring Fling:
-The
sign up sheet for the various booths for teachers was posted. Several teachers signed up prior to the
meeting and the list will be posted in the teacher workroom for teachers to
continue to sign up if they choose to do so.
-Teachers
will be paid $35 (+$10 from past years) for having and handling a booth.
-Tickets
will be sold in bags for $5, $10, $15, or $20.
Volunteers for counting out tickets and placing them
in correct bags is still needed.
Student volunteers in the upper grades were mentioned as a possibility.
-Each
booth can charge either 1, 2, or 3 tickets per
play. It is up to the teacher to decide
what amount he/she wants to charge for their booth.
-Any booth collecting 500 or more tickets will given
$.10 for each ticket collected to that class.
-Shells
Restaurant will be selling food this year and will serve chicken, pasta, and
Caesar salads.
Principal’s Report/SAC:

-Our school homework policy
was mentioned and how it states that we require homework on Monday, Tuesday,
and Thursday nights. Mrs. Henderson
asked those present if they agreed with this policy. The consensus was that those teachers present
were divided in their agreement with this policy. Some teachers were giving homework to their
students on Wednesday nights. Mrs.
Henderson mentioned the idea of polling our parents through a survey about our
homework policy through ConnectEd as to whether they
liked it or not.
