BRENTWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

PTO/SAC BOARD MEETING

MARCH 3, 2005

Meeting called to order at 3:08 p.m.

Welcome: Sign-in sheet was passed around.

Principal’s Report:

Mr. McQueen’s Report:

  • FCAT tests were administered this week. All went well. There were many absences and the make-up exams are going well also. Exams will finish next Thursday.
  • Volunteer Luncheon – this was excellent and many thanks to Amy Kaiser and Corry Tyle for their leadership.
  • Jog-A-Thon – this event raised a good deal of money for the PTO. Thank you to Morgan Rivers, Susan Snyder & Melissa Jeffrey for their organization.
  • Site Analysis – this was several weeks ago and was very well attended. Thank you to all who came and for your great input.
  • Teacher Choice – due to the many variables this year of not knowing who Brentwood’s principal will be or how many teachers will be transferring to the new elementary school with Mrs. Russell, we came up with the attached form for parents to fill out regarding Teacher Choice. We will offer choice to the parents, but there will not be an observation week.
  • Mrs. Russell – It has been confirmed that the following staff members are leaving with Mrs. Russell to work at the new elementary school: Linda Turmine, Peggy Beckwith & Miss Annie.

Secretary’s Report: February 2005 minutes were read, accepted and seconded.

Treasurer’s Report: The current bank account information was read, accepted and seconded.

Adopt-A-Class: We still have several classrooms/special areas open for adoption: Mr. McRae & Mrs. Morris will be adopted by the PTO so that we may begin second adoptions.

New Business:

  • Country Jamboree – Set for April 29th, we still need a co-chair for this event. Amy Kaiser volunteered to help with the prizes again this year. Morgan Rivers volunteered to be the co-chair and Mrs. Richardson was nominated to work as the teacher liaison for this event. It was decided that there would be a similar form to the Jog-A-Thon asking parents to volunteer during this event.
  • 2nd Book Fair – The dates of 4/28 & 4/29 have been reserved and the books will be delivered on 4/27. Renée Thompson and Melissa Jeffrey are the co-chairs for this event. They are working with Scholastic to try to get the books delivered on 4/25 instead so that we have more time for setup and to re-order favorite titles for our Country Jamboree Evening Event. Mrs. Richardson will have summer reading lists available for us by 4/28.
  • Kindergarten Roundup – Scheduled for 4/14 at 11:30 a.m. in the Media Center
  • Fall Fundraiser 2005 – We agreed on Sally Foster again for the fall. Morgan Rivers brought up the idea of selling Christmas wreaths and also selling coffee with the pie sale during the Fall Open House.
  • Co-President Position Open – Melissa Jeffrey is choicing to the new elementary school so we have an opening for a Co-President.

Fundraisers:

Jog-A-Thon – It was a highly successful event. Thanks to everyone who helped out.

Meeting adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
