BRENTWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
PTO/SAC BOARD MEETING
JANUARY 6, 2005
Meeting called to
order at 3:03 p.m.
Welcome: The Sign-in
sheet, Snack sheet, Snow Cone party sheet, and Jog-A-Thon volunteer sheet were
passed around.
Principal’s Report:
- The
registrar has been busy enrolling 16 new students to Brentwood
since Tuesday!
- Mrs.
Trego will retire around Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Mr. Parr will
take over as a 100% music teacher. He is certified in art as well.
- Sarasota
County Schools were awarded the Gold Medal National award for excellence.
- We
currently have an opening for a part-time PE Instructor.
Mr. McQueen’s Report:
- On
January 19, please visit the McDonald’s on Bee Ridge near Gold’s Gym. It’s
Brentwood Night and 10% of the night’s sales will benefit our ESE program.
- Thanks
to Holly Mailloux, Morgan Rivers, Melissa Jeffrey and everyone who worked
at the Holiday Gift Shop. It was a true success and the kids loved it!
- We
would like the PTO to consider purchasing a small marquis sign for the
back of the school since there are so many more
parents dropping their kids off in this location since the opening of the
new two-story building.
- There
is an after-care opening at Brentwood.
The hours are from 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. and it pays $11.17/hour.
- The Brentwood television station has purchased all of
their equipment and will be up and running soon. Mr. Kluk and Mrs.
Harrison have volunteered to help run the station.
- Check
out Channel 20 for more information on Mrs. Ray’s Pillows for Patriots
project.
Secretary’s Report:
- December’s
PTO meeting minutes were read, accepted and seconded.
Adopt-A-Class:
- Only
10 adoptions left, mostly for specialty areas.
Fall Fundraisers:
- Holiday Gift Shop: Over $3,000 in profit
was earned.
New Business:
- Scholastic
One-Day Book Fair: The PTO decided to go forward with this event to
coincide with our Spring Fling event.
- Jog-A-Thon:
More volunteers are needed. Please sign up on the sheet that’s being
passed around.
Meeting adjourned at 3:40 p.m.
