BHS SAC Minutes

Chair Report:           Ms. Kim Davis

SAC minutes – February 21, 2008.  Minutes reviewed and approved for posting on SAC website.

 

 

Principal Report:  Ms. Sue Fair

 

Proposal for $450 ($200 worth of free software) (SDMT proposal) for six (6) scanners to be located In Staff Lounges across campus.

Update information that Scanners / document cameras may be

available throughout the District for 2008-2009.

 

Proposal for this Lottery expenditure declined.

 

FCAT  Update:

 

Testing and make-up testing has been completed as scheduled. 

Attendance for testing was excellent –

93%-95% for Reading & Math testing

90% plus for Science testing

            Teams worked well together and all pre-planning benefited the

                        students.

            Student response to testing: “There is no ‘D’ in Booker.

                        Goal for Booker High 2008-2009  - Booker is a “B”

 

            GED Foundation:

 

                        Foundation promotes student leadership and college for every

student.  This foundation will be working with Booker High

students to visualize their dreams for themselves and for

Booker High School.  Funding is needed to assist more students.

 

BUDGET 2008-2009:

 

School District must cut $32 million dollars from District budget.

All school Principals will receive their budgets on April 14; budget

to be reviewed by SDMT and approved by SAC.

Due to decrease of student enrollment, proposal to meet budget

include staff reduction.  However class size, by state

mandate, must remain at 25 students per class.

                        Legislative decisions/changes may affect District budget.

 

 

 

 

           

Booker’s American Idol:

 

Syesha Mercado – American Idol Contestant–

Booker High American Idol Viewing Event – March 25th, VPA

Theatre – Tickets available to students, staff, and public.

All encourage to vote.

Mattison’s restaurant is holding weekly events throughout this

Season.

Ms. White-Davis is keeping in touch with Syesha’s parents and

family.

Student representative need to attend the SAC meetings.  Student

input is important to SAC decision making and SAC needs to be apprised

of the continuing student community and school activities.   

 

Announcements:  Report cards to be distributed during TAP time, Wednesday,

                                    April 9th.
