Community Forum:

Ms. Campos in conjunction with Ms. White-Davis reported on the

Booker High October community forum which focused on Next

Generation Learning.  Attendance was not as high as hoped. The main concerns expressed were attributed to the need for

increased communication between school, parents and students.

To address the communication issues:

Currently there is Smart Web, where teachers can input student

information and parents can access this information via home

computer.   Smart Web has limitations and some difficulty being

user friendly.  Smart Web updates must be used by all teachers

and must be maintained frequently by teachers.  Sarasota County

School District is aware of the problems and is currently working

on a new system which will better accommodate the school

instructors, parents and students. It will take approximately two

 years to complete this task.

BHS TAP Advisory program, every Wednesday, creates a

homeroom situation for the Small Learning Community students to

identify and bond with one teacher and one group of students.

The newsletters and connect-ed messages need to be increased

And posted on the BHS website.

SAC suggested that another Community Forum be held at one of

The following locations:  Truevine Church, Newtown Community

Center, or the North County Library.  Ms. White-Davis to follow up

 and advise.
