Small Learning Communities  - Students will be capable of scheduling

on line for 2005-2006.  Scheduling procedure will integrate

                                    student interest with curriculum.

A Course of Study book was presented by Amy Petz, SLC

Coordinator.  The main idea for BHS curriculum is for

students to obtain a liberal arts education by offering a chosen

                                    major through electives.

Major construction changes to BHS campus over the next 5

To 7 years.  BHS complex will be designed to accommodate

the SLC concept for all grade levels / houses.

Testing:           Booker High School (the only high school in Sarasota County) was

selected to participate in the President’s NAEP.   BHS seniors

participated in this test.  SAC recommendation that this test be

administered to 11th grade students instead of 12th grade students.

Test results are not returned to Booker High School, but will have

an impact on national educational averages.

FCAT testing materials have arrived – testing to begin 2/28/05

And 3/1/05, with make-up dates to follow.  Areas of testing are

                                    reading, math, and science.

AP exams upcoming with 110 students taking this exam.  Students

do not have to take AP courses to take the AP exam.  BHS plans to

encourage more students to consider enrolling in AP classes and

an increase the number of AP classes offered students through

on line cyber courses.  This would accommodate the home-school

student as well as those in a structured classroom study.

General movement to test on line.  Computer adaptive testing

system can determine student knowledge in less time; instant

                                    scoring; prescriptive remediation.

Curriculum Mapping is a technique used to fill the missing

pieces going from skills, standards, objectives to assessment.

Heidi Hayes Jacobs is the author of “Curriculum Mapping” and

BHS administrators will be previewing this concept on the web.

Accreditation:  Southern Association for Accreditation is scheduled for April, 2006.

Climate Survey:  The Teacher, Student, Parent Surveys will use Scantron sheets for

answers.  Booker High can create it’s own graphics and use

The data for a self study and indicate direction for SAC team

In determining and evaluating our School Improvement Plan.
